Whether your partner or children are included in your travel insurance cover, and whether they should be named, depends on the Monzo plan you hold. Therefore, you might have to get in touch with Monzo support to upgrade your plan to ensure your family is covered.
Who may be covered under the Monzo travel insurance?
- If you hold a Monzo Max plan, only you, the plan holder, may be covered by travel insurance because Monzo Max is an individual insurance plan.
- If you hold a Monzo Max Family plan, your partner may be covered by travel insurance, but only if they are declared and named in your travel insurance plan. As for your children, they may also be covered at the same condition and even if they are not travelling with you.
- If you hold a Monzo Premium plan, your partner and/or children may be covered under your Monzo Premium travel insurance as long as they are traveling with you without being named or declared in your travel insurance plan.
Would my children be covered on a school trip?
Whether you hold a Monzo Premium or a Monzo Max Family plan, children leaving on a school trip may not be covered by the Monzo travel insurance.
Who is considered a "partner"?
A "partner" refers to your spouse or legal partner, including couples in a common-law relationship living permanently at the same address (i.e., domiciled together).
Who qualifies as "children"?
"Children" include your biological, step, fostered, or adopted children, as long as they meet these conditions:
- They are under 19 at the start of the trip (or under 21 if still in full-time education)
- They are financially dependent on you or your partner
- They are not married.
Would my grandchildren benefit from my Monzo travel insurance?
Grandsons or granddaughters may not be covered, even if they are traveling with you. You would need to subscribe a separate policy with a different insurer to potentially cover your grandchildren.
Can my partner or my children travel without me and still be potentially covered under this travel insurance?
Your partner and your children may only be covered when they travel without you if three conditions are met:
- You hold a Monzo Max Family plan
- They are both declared in your travel insurance plan
- They are both named in your travel insurance plan.
If they travel without you and you hold a Monzo Premium plan, your partner and your children may not be covered.
