Think of Personal Liability as cover that helps protect you if you accidentally cause harm to someone else or damage their property while you are on a trip outside of the UK. If you are found legally responsible for these accidents, this part of your insurance can help pay for the costs.
Important information:
- The cover is only valid outside the UK.
- Do not admit that you are liable, offer any payment, or make any promises without getting written permission from us.
- Contact Zurich Assist if you need urgent assistance after an accident.
- Always fill in the online claim form as soon as possible after an accident.
What kind of situations may be covered by the Personal Liability cover?
This part of the insurance covers claims where you are legally responsible for:
- Accidental injury, illness, or death of someone else. This applies to people who are not employed by you and are not your close relatives or members of your household. For example, if you accidentally trip someone in a restaurant and they get injured.
- Accidental loss of or damage to someone else's property. For instance, if you accidentally spill something and damage someone else's expensive camera.
- The legal costs and expenses that come from these situations, which you or your legal representatives are required to pay
Is there a limit to how much can be paid out for a Personal Liability claim?
Yes, the maximum amount we would pay for all claims under this Personal Liability cover for any one incident is £1,000,000.
Is there a part of the claim I have to pay myself?
No, there is no excess to pay if you make a claim under the Personal Liability cover.
Keep in mind
For medical emergencies, please call Zurich Assist for help. Then, always fill out the in-app or online claim form to submit a claim—even if you’re not sure whether it’s covered. That way, we can keep a clear record and take a closer look at your situation. Just remember to keep any relevant receipts or official documents, like a police report in case of theft, to help support your claim.
