This part of your insurance can pay you a lump sum of money if you have an accident during your trip that directly causes a serious injury. These injuries include:
- Death.
- Loss of sight (in one or both eyes).
- Loss of a limb (hand or foot).
- Permanent total disablement (meaning you can't do any kind of job for the rest of your life).
Important information:
- The cover is only valid outside the UK.
- Contact Zurich Assist if you need urgent assistance after an accident.
- Always fill in the online claim form as soon as possible after any kind of accident.
How much money could I receive?
The most you can receive for a single accident is £30,000. The exact amount depends on the type of injury:
- Both hands, both feet, or sight in both eyes: 100% of the £30,000 limit.
- One hand and one foot: 100% of the £30,000 limit.
- One hand or foot and sight in one eye: 100% of the £30,000 limit.
- One hand or one foot: 50% of the £30,000 limit.
- Sight in one eye: 50% of the £30,000 limit.
If you have more than one of these injuries from the same accident, the total amount we pay will never be more than £30,000.
Is there a time limit for when these injuries must occur after the accident?
Yes, the death, loss of sight, loss of limb, or permanent total disablement must happen within 12 months of the date of the accident.
Is there a part of the claim I have to pay myself?
No, there is no excess to pay for Personal Accident claims.
What happens if I lose a limb or my sight? Do I get the money straight away?
For loss of limb or loss of sight, we will pay the amounts listed above. However, for permanent total disablement, we will only make the payment at the earliest one year after the accident.
Can I be asked to see a doctor?
Yes, before we pay a claim, we have the right to ask you to be examined by a medical practitioner of our choice.
