Can I just hire any lawyer I want?
Yes, if you have a claim, you have the right to choose a suitable lawyer. This can also include hiring an interpreter or expert witnesses if needed.
Do I need to get permission before spending money on legal help?
Yes, you must get written agreement from Zurich Assist before you start spending money on legal costs or take any legal action.
When will you agree to help with legal costs?
We will agree to cover the legal costs if you can show us that:
- There are good reasons to start or defend the legal case, and it's more likely than not (at least a 51% chance) that you will either win and get money or another legal solution that we have agreed to, or successfully defend against a claim. We will consider your opinion and your lawyer's opinion, as well as advice from our own experts.
- It is reasonable to provide legal help in your specific situation.
What happens if I win my legal case and get money for my legal costs?
If you win your case, any legal expenses that we paid will need to be paid back to us.

Keep in mind
For medical emergencies, please call Zurich Assist for help. Then, always fill out the in-app or online claim form to submit a claim—even if you’re not sure whether it’s covered. That way, we can keep a clear record and take a closer look at your situation. Just remember to keep any relevant receipts or official documents, like a police report in case of theft, to help support your claim.
