What counts as 'personal money'?
This includes things like banknotes, coins, traveller's cheques, postal orders, prepaid vouchers, and travel tickets that you are holding for your own use.
What proof do you need if your personal money is lost or stolen?
You'll need a police report that confirms what happened and what was lost. You should also provide any bank statements or currency exchange receipts as proof of ownership.
How much can I claim for lost or damaged personal money?
The most you can claim in total for personal money is £250 per claim for all beneficiaries. In other words, if covered family members are part of the claim you submit, the most you can claim in total remains £250.
Is there an excess for claims involving personal money?
Yes, there is an excess of £50 per claim.
Is personal money covered if it is left unattended?
No, money that was left unattended and unsecured is not covered.
