Am I covered for travel between different destinations on my trip?
Yes, you may be covered. The policy defines a trip as a holiday or journey which begins when you leave your home and ends when you return. Therefore, travel between different locations as part of that continuous, pre-booked round trip (e.g., flights, trains) may be covered for insured events like delays or cancellations, provided you meet all other terms and conditions.
Important Information:
Maximum Trip Duration: The total duration of your entire journey must not exceed 45 consecutive days. If your trip is longer than 45 days, no part of it will be covered.
Round-Trip Requirement: To be considered a valid trip, your journey must be a round trip, starting and ending in the UK. Your travel must begin when you leave your home or place of business and ends upon your return to either location.
Pre-booked Travel: Both your initial outward and final inbound travel tickets must be purchased before your trip begins. One-way or open-ended tickets are not covered.
How much can I claim if I miss my international departure?
The most you can claim in total for missed departure is £250 per trip for all beneficiaries. In other words, if covered family members are part of the claim you submit, the most you can claim in total remains £250.
Is there a part of the claim I have to pay myself?
No, there's no excess to pay for missed departure.
How would my reimbursement be calculated?
Your reimbursement is calculated strictly based on the time period between your original scheduled departure and when you actually depart. E.g. if your original flight was at 2pm but you missed it due to a train delay, and you caught an alternative flight at 8pm the same day, we may reimburse the costs incurred between 2pm and 8pm.
What types of expenses may be covered under the missed departure cover?
You may be covered for the following additional costs:
Additional accomodation costs (room-only charges)
Alternative flights, trains or other transport to reach your international destination or to get you home
Upgraded travel costs if your original class of service isn't available.
Meals or personal expenses (e.g. shopping while waiting) will not be covered.
What evidence do I need to provide in case of missed departure?
You'll need to provide, depending on the situation:
Written confirmation from the transport provider about the delay length and reason
Evidence of the additional costs you've incurred
Written report from police, emergency services, or a repair company in case of vehicle breakdown.
What reasons for missing a departure may be covered?
You may qualify for compensation if you miss your scheduled international departure due to:
Failure of other scheduled public transport (e.g. bus, train, ...)
Accidents or breakdowns of the vehicle you are traveling in
Major events causing significant road delays
Unexpected adverse weather conditions.
What are possible reasons for a missed departure that are not covered?
You will likely not be covered for the following reasons, among others:
For travel within the UK
For not allowing enough time for your journey
If your transport provider offers alternative travel departing within 4 hours of your original time
Strikes that were already announced before you booked your trip.
Keep in mind
If anything happens, please fill out the in-app or online claim form to submit a claim—even if you’re not sure whether it’s covered.
