How much can I claim for lost or damaged baggage?
The most you can claim in total for baggage is £750 per claim for all beneficiaries. In other words, if covered family members are part of the claim you submit, the most you can claim in total remains £750.
How much are my old items worth?
We use something called their replacement value:
- For items less than a year old, we'll pay the original price you paid.
- For items older than a year, we'll pay a bit less each year. It starts at 75% in the second year and goes down by 10% each year after that.
- We will always pay at least 20% of the original price, even for older items.
What do I need to do if my baggage is lost, stolen, or damaged while with an airline, train, or in a hotel?
- You must tell them in writing what happened.
- You must also get a police report from the local police within 24 hours of realising the items are missing or damaged.
If my baggage is lost or damaged by an airline, what else should I do?
- Go to the airline desk at the airport and get a Property Irregularity Report (PIR).
- Make a written claim to the airline within their time limits and keep a copy for yourself.
- Keep your flight tickets and baggage tags.
What proof do I need to make a claim for baggage?
You'll need to provide the original receipt or other proof that you owned the items.
What happens if my lost items are found?
If we've paid you for lost items and they are found later, you must pay us back the money we paid you.
What if my baggage can be repaired instead of replaced?
If it's cheaper to repair the item, we will only pay the cost of the repair.
Is there a part of the claim I have to pay myself?
Yes, there is an excess of £50 per claim for baggage claims.
Keep in mind
If anything happens, please fill out the in-app or online claim form to submit a claim—even if you’re not sure whether it’s covered. That way, we can keep a clear record and take a closer look at your situation. Just remember to keep any relevant receipts or official documents, like a police report in case of theft, to help support your claim.
